Roberto Castelli

|
Roberto Castelli, senatore della Lega, è nato a
Lecco il 12 luglio 1946. Sposato, un figlio,
Castelli è laureato in ingegneria meccanica,
titolare di una società di servizi e appassionato
di montagna.
Il nome di Castelli come candidato al ministero
della Giustizia è emerso negli ultimi giorni,
come possibile alternativa, dopo la forzata
rinuncia del numero due della Lega, Roberto Maroni.
Castelli aderisce alla Lega fina dalla sua nascita
e nel 1988 viene eletto presidente della giunta
provinciale di Lecco. Nel 1990 è eletto nel
consiglio provinciale, sempre di Lecco, dove è il
capogruppo leghista.
In Parlamento, Castelli entra nel 1992, eletto
alla Camera ed è rieletto poi nel 1994 in un
collegio maggioritario. Nel 1996 passa al Senato,
eletto nel collegio Lombardia 35 (Lecco-Brianza
orientale).
Nella passata legislatura, il 28 luglio 1998, è
stato nominato dal presidente del Senato Mancino
membro della commissione di Vigilanza Rai, su
designazione del suo gruppo parlamentare, la Lega
Nord. Il 26 ottobre 1999 l'assemblea dei senatori
del Carroccio, quasi all'unanimità (un solo voto
di astensione), lo ha eletto capogruppo, in
sostituzione di Luciano Gasperini. Il nuovo
capogruppo, appena eletto, in una conferenza
stampa illustrò i nuovi impegni parlamentari
della Lega Nord mettendo primo fra tutti il
rilancio della "questione Padana" e la
battaglia per il riconoscimento del parlamento
padano.
Il 13 maggio di quest'anno, Castelli è rieletto
al Senato nello stesso collegio del 1996.
Castelli è ritenuto uno dei leghisti moderati,
anche se ha preso a volte posizioni polemiche come
quando, nel febbraio 1997, ha criticato la
chiusura anticipata dei lavori parlamentari
dicendo: "Non vorrei che la presidenza del
Senato questa sera sia così precisa nella
chiusura dei lavori perché gioca la vostra
nazionale di calcio..." o quando, nel
novembre 1997, in una lettera a Guido Papalia,
procuratore capo di Verona, in cui annunciava che
la Lega avrebbe disertato un convegno contro il
razzismo, allegava una mozione approvata dal
consiglio comunale di Lecco nella quale si
sosteneva che "il Codice Penale attualmente
in vigore è antilibertario e antidemocratico e
nega in larga parte ai cittadini la facoltà di
esercitare appieno la propria libertà".
Nel febbraio 2000, a proposito dei passaggi di
gruppo parlamentare, ha denunciato la
"compravendita dei 'puttani' in
Parlamento".
